The Greek Biotope \/ Wetland Centre (EKBY) of The Goulandris Natural History Museum cooperated with ANETH SA as a Special Advisor. This work comes as a continuation of the previous contract &#8220;Recording of projects and studies and formulation of proposals for the restoration of natural and agricultural ecosystems in the western coastal zone of Thessaloniki&#8221;, which had been assigned to EKBY in 2001.<\/p><p><strong>Project duration:<\/strong> 2002-2003.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-8b1840f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"8b1840f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-c1d0fb3\" data-id=\"c1d0fb3\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c1a8b71 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c1a8b71\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>The Role of EKBY<\/h3><p>EKBY, as a Special Advisor, implemented the project in two phases. The first phase focused on the description of the study area, the identification and assessment of existing pressures, the study of hydrological parameters and soil properties, and the drafting of measures for the restoration of the lagoon. In this phase, the wetland functions and values and the environmental and the socio-economic conditions of the area were taken into consideration. In the second phase, the measures proposed in the first phase, were further specified.
