It concerns the habitat types of Annex I and the species of Annexes II, IV and V of Directive 92\/43\/EEC as well as the bird species of Directive 2009\/147\/EC. The results of monitoring of the conservation status of habitats and species are included in the national reports that the member states submit to the European Commission every six years. The national reports of the member states are used by the European Commission to produce a composite report at the European Union level. They also contribute to the evaluation of the progress achieved and to the design of nature and biodiversity policies in the European Union.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-8b1840f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"8b1840f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-c1d0fb3\" data-id=\"c1d0fb3\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c1a8b71 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c1a8b71\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>The Role of EKBY<\/h3><p>EKBY coordinated a group of experts and compiled the 2nd national report of Directive 92\/43\/EEC for Greece for the reporting period 2001-2006. This report included the first assessment of the conservation status of habitat types and species of EU interest. In the following period, EKBY participated in the coordination of expert groups that collected field data and drew up the 3rd and 4th national reports of Directive 92\/43\/EEC (reporting periods 2007-2012 and 2013-2018) as well as the 2nd and 3rd national reports of Directive 2009\/147\/ EU (for the same periods).<\/p><p>In addition, EKBY carried out the monitoring of amphibians and reptiles of EU interest for the preparation of the national report of Directive 92\/43\/EEC of the Republic of Cyprus (reporting period 2007-2012).<\/p><p>Currently (2022-2025), EKBY participates in the coordination of field work groups and will prepare the 5th report of Directive 92\/43\/EEC (reporting period 2019-2024), i.e. fact sheets for the assessment of the conservation status and distribution maps for more than 90 types of habitats and 300 species (plants, invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and fish) of EU interest found in Greece.
